Big Ben's Broken Ribs

It’s been an entire week since the Superbowl where the Steelers won against the Cardinals. In that win in Tampa, Big Ben was playing with two broken ribs. Before the game, x-rays didn’t show any broken ribs, but after the game when Big Ben got a MRI the case was not the same. The MRI’s showed that he had two broken ribs. We knew ahead of time before the Superbowl game that Roethlisberger had some sort of rib/back injury.

Even though he didn’t know about the injury Roethlisberger knew that something was wrong. “Luckily, in the game, I didn't take any big hits to make ‘em hurt,” Roethlisberger told SI.com. “But I knew all along there was something wrong. There wouldn't have been anything that could have been done about fractured ribs anyway. It was just suck it up and play.”

This just shows you how Big Ben is a very committed to his team. He knew something was wrong ahead of time, but he sucked it up and played. The guy had two broken ribs. That takes some major balls. I remember the time when I sprained my ankle and couldn’t play soccer for a few days. Imagine how it feels to play with two broken ribs. The pain must have been bad. Just throwing the ball had to be very difficult for Roethlisberger. I’ve said before that Big Ben isn’t your favorite QB. He’s not a Peyton Manning or Tom Brady type of player, but he does one thing for his team and that is WIN. He doesn’t get fantasy players the points they want, but he does win and that is a lot in the NFL to be successful. If you can win, you will have a job in the NFL as a QB. If you also look at his past seasons, his best season was in 2007. He had 32 TD and 11 INT that season. His average TD’s in a season is 20 and INT’s is 13. So don’t expect him to get you lots of fantasy points, week in and week out. I got to give it to him that the guy can play and play well when he needs to.

I don’t know who I would take…Rivers with his injury game against the Pats or Roethlisberger’s broken ribs play in the Superbowl?
